Giving Time

Every year, Prologis employees around the world engage in the annual IMPACT day, the company’s global day of service. They put down their pens and roll up their sleeves to serve the communities where we live and work. For the 11^th edition of IMPACT day, our colleagues in Northern Europe took part in a range of different activities:

• Employees based within the Amsterdam office supported the charity Amsterdam helpt. They took part in 5 different activities during the day in support of local community such as helping at petting farm Dierendok and de Buiktuin, a spa day for the elderly at a local retirement home, gardening in a low-income residential neighbourhood and maintenance work at a local playground.
• Our Swedish team supported Ågrenska, a national center of excellence for rare health conditions and other disabilities with a center located on Lilla Amundön.
• Our German teams took part in multiple activities around the country:
  • In Düsseldorf, the team volunteered for the third year in row at Kinderhilfezentrum Düsseldorf, a children’s aid center, and improved the facility grounds by gardening and making repairs. In addition the organization received a donation.
  • In Munich, our team supported the Münchner Tafel e.V., a nonprofit that provides food for more than 23,000 people in need every week, by distributing food to the homeless. An additional donation to the Münchner Tafel was made.
  • In Berlin, the team supported DRK Klinik Berlin Westend by renovating and cleaning a room to transform it into a kitchen where DRK will teach children with diabetes how to prepare suitable meals. They also donated to the organization.
  • In Hamburg, the team volunteered at CaFée mit Herz e.V., a drop-in center and day shelter in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, offering homeless people and others in need a safe and comfortable space, by cleaning the entrance area and shelter, repairing holes and painting.

For the 11th edition of IMPACT day, our colleagues volunteered at Church Pool Covert, part of Tame Valley Wetlands (TVWLP) and located near to Prologis Park Hams Hall site.

Our UK team undertook a wide range of tasks to improve access and facilities in the woodland, installing two newly donated bridges, restoring pathways and fencing, building an outdoor learning space and providing new seating for the local community, using recycled and sustainable materials wherever possible. Church Pool Covert serves as an important habitat for a variety of species and is the largest area of inter-connected wetlands in Warwickshire. The volunteer work conducted by the UK team ensures that Tame Valley Wetlands will remain a biodiversity hotspot for many years to come and that walkers and the local community can enjoy them safely.

For the 11^th edition of IMPACT day, our colleagues in Southern Europe took part in a range of different activities:

• Our Italian team volunteered their time with two different associations, Pane Quotidiano in Milan and Antoniano in Bologna, to distribute meals to people in need.
• Our Spanish team collaborated with Arrels Fundación, a charity in Barcelona dedicated to the homeless. Employees took to the streets to raise awareness and experience first-hand the vulnerability of homeless people. The team also joined the association workshops, which help homeless people to rebuild their lives.
• Our French team supported the charity, Apprentices d’Auteuil, to carry out renovation work at the Saint Gabriel school in Bagneux (near Paris) to create a stimulating learning environment for the children studying there.

For the 11^th edition of IMPACT day, our colleagues in Central Europe took part in a range of different activities:

• Our Czech Republic & Slovak team helped to clean Divoka Sarka, a nature reserve on the northwestern outskirts of Prague.
• Our Hungarian team helped renovate and paint apartments within the TAPIOLAND Center, which offers housing and training for young adults with disabilities to live an independent life. This was in conjunction with the Egyenlő Esélyekért Foundation (Equal Chances Foundation).
• Our Polish team took to the water on kayaks to help clean the Świder river and its riverbanks from discarded rubbish in conjunction with the organisation Operacja Czysta Rzeka (Operation Clean River).

ReachOut is a national mentoring and education charity, rooted in local communities. Working in under-resourced areas, they support young people to grow in character and confidence, sparking change in themselves and society.

For the last academic year, Jamie Cameron, Head of Client Relations EMEA, has been volunteering his time as a mentor. Every Tuesday evening, Jamie mentors a young person to help build their confidence, further their strengths and overcome the barriers young people face to create wider positive change in society.

Stelvio for Life believe in a treatment for cancer patients based on the DNA profile of their tumour. To make this all happen, and to be able to give patients a longer and better life, Stelvio for Life raise money for individualised cancer research. That, together with their passion for sports, results in the organisation of annual charity sports event such as Stelvio for Life.

Stelvio for Life Foundation organises an annual sports event up the Passo dello Stelvio in North Italy, where participants have to climb 1.533 metres (start at 1.225 metres altitude in Bormio and finish at 2.758 metres altitude) either by bike or by foot, and are asked to raise €1,- per altitude metre. The Stelvio pass is one of the highest asphalted mountain passes in Europe and, because of the length (21.1 km), incline percentage and altitude, one of the most challenging mountain passes in Europe to climb by bike or by foot.
