MOD’s goal is that no one should die while waiting for an organ, and MOD is the obvious voice for everyone waiting for a new organ in Sweden.

MOD – More Organ Donation, was founded in 2012 by Peter Carstedt and Martha Ehlin (1978-2016) and is a non-partisan, religiously independent, non-state-funded non-profit association. MOD’s goal is that no one should die waiting for an organ, and for the past nine years they have become a leading movement in organ donation and the obvious voice for everyone waiting for a new organ. They fundamentally want to change the conditions for what it is like to wait for one or more organs.

Their primary focus is to, together with their large network, work with advocacy work towards politicians, decision makers and other experts in organ donation in order to create the conditions for Sweden to become a world leader in organ donation. They strongly believe that they’ll achieve the greatest change through collaborations, and have worked together with the healthcare system and politicians in recent years with large-scale system changes at national, regional and local level, to improve and change the way we work with organ donation in Sweden, with the aim of double the number of organ donors in Sweden.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals named Árvácska in Szentendre was founded by enthusiastic animal lovers in 1997. Since autumn 2002 they operate as a non-profit organisation, and since autumn 2009 as an emphasized non-profit organization.

Their aims:

– Promote compliance with the Animal Protection Act, take steps against abuse, starvation, cruelty to animals

– Develop the culture and responsibility of animal keeping, and the task of educating young people to love wildlife

– Improve the lives of dogs, encourage their adoption

– Struggle to reduce the number of abandoned stray animals, control of excessive reproduction by spaying

The Árvácska Society operates an animal shelter for dogs and cats. In the shelter the animals are placed in ordered kennels, their daily care and provisioning is proper and continuous, regular veterinary care is provided, all required vaccinations are given. Animals are consistently spayed/castrated, and only neutered dogs or cats equipped with a registered chip are given to new masters/mistresses for good. The fate of adopted animals is followed up by us. We allow no anesthesia in their animal shelter! They only agree with it in medically clearly necessary situations or in case of emergency.

The average daily number of dogs can be 100-110, as for cats this number is 80-90.

Birmingham Dogs Home cares 24 hours a day, every day of the year for stray, abandoned and relinquished dogs from across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire. The story of Heti Betevő began in a restaurant in Erzsébetváros, Kisüzem, after Christmas 2013. The chefs working here were shocked to see how much money the guests spend on food and drink, while so many people are having problems with their daily allowance.

The idea came out of the blue and was simple: the money thrown into the envelopes displayed in the party district’s numerous entertainment venues was enough to cover the price of a large pot of hot food. The following Sunday, the Kisüzem cooks cooked 50 portions of food and distributed them to the needy people in the nearby Klauzál square with some of their friends. From this day on, estaurant-quality, plentiful meat food and homemade cakes made by volunteers have become the trademark of Heti Betevų. Every week, new restaurants, pubs, and volunteers join, and the number of envelopes, donors, and, of course, the number of guests standing in the queue keeps increasing.

Every evening the midnight bus drives to the sleeping places of homeless people. Volunteers bring hot drinks, bread, warm blankets and clothes. Above all, they bring human warmth and sympathy. Nobody is allowed to freeze to death on the streets of Hamburg.
